What is carpet uplift and disposal in Bedford?
Carpet uplift and disposal in Bedford is one of those things most fitters don’t offer – but we do. Uplift is the removal of your existing floor before the new one goes down. Disposal means we take it away with us. You don’t need to hire a skip, make a trip to the tip, or have a pile of old carpet sitting in your garden.
We remove carpet, underlay, laminate, LVT, and ceramic tiles. Whatever is down, we lift it and take it away as part of the job.
Why most fitters don’t offer it
Honestly, it’s because it’s hard work. Lifting old flooring, rolling it up, carrying it out to the van, and disposing of it properly takes time and effort that most man-in-van fitters would rather skip. A lot of them will quote for fitting only and leave the uplift to you.
We’ve always included it as part of our service because it makes the whole job simpler for the customer. You book one visit, we arrive, we remove the old floor & fit the new one. That’s it.
Does it cost more for LVT and ceramic tiles?
Yes. Carpet and underlay is straightforward to lift. LVT and ceramic tiles are a different job entirely. Both are bonded to the subfloor with adhesive, which means they have to be broken up and scraped off rather than simply pulled up. It takes longer, it’s more physical, and it often requires extra subfloor preparation afterwards.
We price uplift based on what’s coming up, so the cost is always clear before we start. Nothing gets added on afterwards.
What about gripper rods and door bars?
We remove existing gripper rods as part of the uplift and replace them with new ones ready for the carpet to go down. Door bars are removed and replaced or repositioned depending on the new floor height.
We also cut doors where needed if the new floor height means they no longer clear the floor. It’s one of those things that’s easy to forget to ask about, so we flag it during the quote visit if we can see it’ll be an issue.
